MIssed: The Serfs

What the fuck is egg punk?  I guess it is nerdy lo-fi indie rock smirk vs "serious" chain punk with it's leather and studs. Lo-fi apparently was not enough of a sub-genre.  This unfortunately is a term that seemed to come out of the blue and I see more and more sort of like "D-Beat" is to Discharge knock-off bands.

Anyway, my friend Danny couldn't use his won pair so I got the spoils for this years edition of the Outline Festival at Knockdown Center.    It seems to me this festival happens more than once a year but maybe it just seems that way.  This years headliner were The Spits who I just saw last year;  They are one of those band I see every few years.  They do a Ramones-early Misfits style hybrid that I find appealing.  How can you go wrong with a mournful but resigned chorus like "tonight/he's gonna sleep with you."

Prison Affair from Barcelona were a straight up garage punk trio.  Times New Viking were around 20 years ago for about 10 years then took some time off.   They did fairly non-descript guy-girl vocal indie rock, but they were the curio of the night for me. Snooper had a shrill vocalist and an agitpunk rant.  I totally missed the Serfs.  So there you have it, not much to add.
