Bill: Towncryer/Sneaky Monkey Venue: Cowgirl Seahorse , 259 Front St. , New York, NY Date: 8/25/25 Door: Free 9pm Towncryer Affiliated: Mirror Queen, Roger That, Hopewell, Ghost of Past Mistakes Active: 2021 (Brooklyn, NY) 8pm Sneaky Monkey Active: Unknow (New York, NY) Kenny was up to his quarterly shenanigans with Towncryer.  Sneaky Monkey came on first doing covers of Midnight Oil, Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road" before the audience ganged up to sing along with Bowie's "Starman." Towncryer have evolved into a guitar/bass/drums trio with a keyboardist in waiting but not quite ready for live consumption.  Perhaps next time.  In the meantime, we had to make do with the current renditions of The Byrds "One Hundred Years Ago," The Stones "Dead Flowers" and I think a cover debut of "Every Little Thing" by the Be-a-tles.  Two sets we done, tequila shots were hoisted, and Monday became Tuesday.   Bill: Towncryer Venue: Pangea , New York, NY Date: 5/3/25 Door: Free 9pm Towncryer Affiliated: Mirror Queen, Roger That, Hopewell, Ghost of Past Mistakes Active: 2021 (Brooklyn, NY) Another week, another night of Towncryer.  Two sets at Pangea in the East Village. Lychee vodka made a special guest appearance.  Lychee is sometimes considered a nut as opposed to a fruit.  Towncryer can confirm this with ease.  I was listening to Blind Faith on 8-track and realized they also did a version of the Towncryer standard "Well All Right" that Buddy Holly did in 1958. Not too many clips, a couple from the bar were obliterated by chatter. FOR FURTHER REVIEW:  Town Cryer @ Cowgirl Seahorse, New York, NY 4/7/25 Town Cryer @ Cowgirl Seahorse, New York, NY 1/20/25

Roger That! have been relentlessly recording and probably have two albums in the can at this point.  Still, last Fall's Flashback Fever is the "new record."  Paul the singer got the ladies screaming after he dumped water on himself after using the...

Bill: Town Cryer/Soul Cake Venue: Cowgirl Seahorse , New York, NY Date: 1/20/25 Door: Free 8:30 PM Town Cryer Affiliated: Mirror Queen, Roger That, Hopewell, Ghost of Past Mistakes 7:30 PM Soul Cake Affiliated: Bowery Boys, Irthlings, Fugitives Facebook   Monday nights singer/songwriter series at Seahorse near South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan brought back regulars Town Cryer with Joff Wilson's trio Soul Cake opening.  I got there a little late as Joff noted but I did catch 7 songs starting with their Cure cover.  This format was guitar-bass-flute for Soul Cake.   Joff's calling card song for years has been " When The War Is Over " which he closed with.   Kenny has added a drummer after he and Rich Meyer became a duo, so we could call it a band at this point.  Both have been around enough to have originals to mix with covers.   They whipped their drummer into shape with 20 songs to learn in the past month.  They do some...
