I finally got the chance to see a show at Xanadu, the new roller rink with a stage. This was a bill of bands I had seen before but thanks to a freebee pair I saw them all again. I hadn't seen the Spits in over 10 years. They haven't changed much, they do fast punk rock. Dirty Fences reminded me of a combo of the Ramones and the Fleshtones and they get described as proto-punk so there you go. Pyrex I last saw on the Cosmic Psychos bill last year. They do a Discharge/Motorhead brand of punk. The vocals were so reverbed I suddenly thought they didn't sound too far from Ty Segal. I mentioned this to my friend Eric that went and he gasped at the thought. Stranger comparisons have happened!
