After checking out Jonny Couch at Sleepwalk, I walked over to Gold Sounds, a little under a mile away. Angry Samoans I haven't seen since 1987 in Boston. Only the drummer Bill Vockeroth remains from that band. Metal Mike and Greg Turner aren't in this touring lineup. Initially Bill toured as Angry Samoan but he reverted to touring under the band name in 2025. This made the show more like an Angry Samoans cover band but they are good hits to hear. I had enough whiskey that I didn't care about formalities. "Lights Out," "They Saved Hitler's Cock," "Steak Knife," "Right Side of My Mind" were all there.
Runny opened the show. I haven't seen them since I set up a show with them at Hank's and played with them. Rob Conger got added as bass ringer. This was a local band I liked 15 years ago, so it was good to see them back. The show before this one was running late, so there was one band left when I arrived. It looks like it was Globe. They do a Nirvana kind of thing in terms of stance, chords and distortion.
