I kept my promise to myself from the King Dunn show that I would check out a full set from Titan To Tachyons after only catching about 10 minutes. Since they were at my local, TV Eye and were playing with another long running curio Dysrhythmia, I figured I'd check the night out.
Dysrhythmia did not disappoint. They delivered a punishing instrumental set full of rocking instrumentals. For some reason I thought I had something by them on a split 7" from way back, but looking at their discography I believe I am mistaken. They sort of reminded me of the 80's SST instrumental bands or Black Flag's The Process of Weeding Out or the Holland band Gore. Great stuff.
Editrix did some tech metal with vocals in the middle. Guitarist/vocalist Wendy Eisenberg had to perform sitting down apparently for the first time ever for reasons unknown but this did not hobble her fluid playing.
I spoke with bassist Matt Hollenbeeg after the show and he was mentioning that the band was heavily influenced by Stinking Lizaveta. Shockingly that was the band I had compared the band to in my last write up and I didn't catch what he was talking about for a second because I always pronounced the band with a long e instead of a short one. Glad I checked the full instrumental set out. Guitarist Sally Gates is another fine player.
