There was a bit of "buzz" on the one-off reunion show for the downtown band K-Holes complete with a $28 door that I somehow avoided by getting there late. I didn't think I had a chance to see them at all coming out of Irving Plaza at 10:30 but text reports as I made my way on the L train from Union Square to Halsey kept me updated until a few stops away at 11:06 I got the alert "they have started."
So, having never seen K-Holes or heard them, I had no preconceived notions except for a guess that they were some kind of downtown "new" no wave band. New from 15 years ago, which is still new to me since sometimes it takes 10 or 20 years to get around to hearing something and what is new often is old again just with different faces.
So anyway I caught the last 4 songs (the slow ones my friend noted) , got a few quick photos and a clip, saw the rest of the set, caught up with a few people and headed out for a Bonus Room nightcap.
ED NOTE: Oh yeah is was Jack Hines from the Black Lips band with his wife Julie. I saw the Black Lips a bunch in the aughts but this was something I didn't associate with them.
