Was in ultra lazy mode and ate $20 bucks each way taking a car TO and FROM Sanger Hall in Sunnyside, Queens for the James Rocket record release from Bushwick HQ. Had I done the L to the G to the 7-train hour plus journey I would've been late and there was a bus down Forest Ave a 15–20-minute walk away that dropped you off 10-15 minutes away. Bushwick to Sunnyside is effort, but I knew I could grab some food and a table there. I knew in the car that a Sanger Burger had my name on it. I thought the car would get me there in time for Heroes of Toolik but I just caught their last couple songs, the finale you see from the clip above.
So anyway, I bought James new record last month and Martin Bisi's recording and Fred Kevorkian's masters made that album sound great. They have a nice thick roar and the side one closer "Winter Flowers" I find particularly exceptional. There is a nice locked groove at the end of the side. Interestingly, most of the bands established live material over time was eschewed for newer material for the band's first full length vinyl effort. In a sense, this is well rehearsed material with the current players in the band.
