The split of keyboardist Claudio Simonetti and guitarist Fabio Pignatelli went all the way back to 1978 after the Zombi (Dawn of the Dead) soundtrack. Claudio Simonetti still tours as Goblin and feature archival material. This year being the 50th Anniversary of Deep Red, the bands debut Soundtrack, Simonetti is scoring the film live before doing a set of career scoring highlights after (Suspiria, Halloween. Bass player Cecila Nappo joined in 2018 and she is the longest running band member after Simonetti. It seems like both guitarist Daniele Amador and drummer Federico Maragoni joined shortly after. The old digital vidio clips have all of them looking younger and fresh faced. Weird to see aging in the digital era comparing stage to screen.
The original soundtrack composer, pianist Giorgio Gaslini's work was rejected when the director deemed it awful but was ultimately released. The director Argento tried to get Pink Floyd to do it but they turned it down. Thus Goblin's debut was born.
The second set had the familiar Suspiria and Halloween music with film highlights running above and around on 3 screens.
