The Outline Festival Series at Knockdown Center began this year's edition with foundational Krautrock guitarist/keybaordist Michael Rother from Neu!  He was in the country coming from playing the Big Ears festival in Knoxville a couple days ago.  He was joined in this lineup by Neu! drummer Hans Lampe. Franz Bargemann was also on guitar and Victoria Maccabruni who he released an album with in 2022 was on electronics and added occasional vocals.  Although Michael let us know as he was wrapping up that this was a "short show" due to the 11PM curfew, there was an overtime performance of "E-Musik" joined by Thurston Moore from the now 50 year old debut "black" Neu! album.  There was plenty of Neu! and Harmonia throughout the set.

Thurston Moore was joined by percussionists William Winant and Tom Surgal both of whom he has recorded with including the 1996 release Piece For Jetsun Dolma.  There were no hits here, only pattented drone chime guitar with drumming and percussive instruments.

I got there at 8 to meet my friend with the extra free ticket, which got me inside the middle of HTRK's set.  I had no idea they had been around over 20 years.  Pronounced "Hate Rock" this was a duo that reminded me of a Mazzy Star sort of vocal feel sans guitar.  Sans Rock you might say.  Obviously, I missed Eiko Ishibashi entirely due to my arrival time.
