I saw a review from Steve Erickson of the new Uniform in Slate and since I thought he mostly lost interest in the Noise Rock genre long ago, that attention he gave to Uniform was enough to give me the curiosity to check out this show.   I hadn't heard any of the bands yet, but they are all local and the other two have established themselves this decade.  Uniform are a decade in.

Uniform's vocalist  reminded me of the voice of Mike Carreiro whose Red Bliss and The Takers were among the most important Boston bands in the 90's and aughts for Noise Rock.  This band had two guitars so the sound was a bit more fleshed out.  The singer, Michael Berdan,  reminded me a little of Mike Hard from the newly reformed God Bullies.  Maybe not as weird more on the side of indecipherable ranting than conspiracy theorizing.   Not a ton else to say, I liked the band.

As for the rest Poison Ruïn were a little better in the song department with a more straightforward punk 'n roll sound, even if Uniform was the better band.  At least I thought that their songs were good which was not what I was thinking with Uniform.  Uniform were more about performance and energy and sound.

LEYA started with a classical approach: harp by Marilou Donavan and violin with male operatic vocals by Adam Markiewitz.  Something different but they kept it short 'n' sweet and were well received.

I'm glad I went.
