Knowing Negative Approach tend to sell out small clubs in NYC, I bought a ticket last May for the show at my local TV Eye. It did indeed sell out. Last time they played there opening for 7 Seconds when the Circle Jerks got covid-cancelled and that one sold out in a day and I had to beg Jonathan Toubin to walk me in, which he kindly did. This one I lazily bought a few weeks after it went on sale.
I had a friend in town and going to an afternoon gig in Park Slope so I had to car it over to TV Eye. Got wrapped up in catching up and avoiding going out in a downpour around 7:30. Then 8:30 I thought to myself 7:30 show, then the 8pm subway G to A to bus or whatever godforsaken hour plus subway route passed. 3 openers should be plenty of time to get a car at 9 I thought to myself. I'll have another beer with Matt Army and eat a $30 car. Well that car and traffic took 45 minutes to get there so when I rolled in NA were already on stage and the room was jammed out. Seems like I saw most of the set. If 26 songs were played, I probably saw 20 of them, so that's how it goes. Said my hellos to Brannon and Harold and replaced my lime green Easy Action shirt blowing out a hole in the side with a bright green Tied Down shirt. I have a logo shirt somewhere but I haven't had it in my t-shirt rotation of late.
Brannon looks good. The band sounds fast and tight like always and great in a small room although I was stuck in the back from being tardy.
