Union Pool's now annual Summer Thunder free Sunday matinee concert series had their show of the year with Toody Cole's new band.  Dead Moon and Pierced Arrows were garage rock mainstays and at 77 Toody has become a front woman of gravitas by default.  There really is nobody out there like her.  Timeless and eternal.   With Monoman gone she may very well be the reigning living figure of the genre.  Hard to believe she has already outlived him by 8 years.   As usual the outdoor Union Pool stage cannot be seen by 75% of the audience but I eventually found a viewing sweet spot on the side.  New K records band from Philly Mopar Stars opened and their sightline was consumed by a mass of bodies.

Fifty-four forty or fight!
